Faster clearance into Johor
JOHOR BARU - MALAYSIA is set to implement a new fast-track clearance system for businessmen who travel frequently to the country, especially from Singapore to Iskandar Malaysia in Johor.
The system, known as Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS), will involve the use of sticker tags and a biometric system.
All necessary infrastructure, including special lanes fitted with thumbprint readers, have been installed at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Tanjung Kupang at the Second Link.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the MACS, which will be launched next month, would enable businessmen to enter Malaysia without having to fill up their white cards, and eventually without a passport.
'Initially, we will use the sticker system and will then convert this into a smart card system when we have 50,000 users,' he said.
Syed Hamid said the main reason for the implementation of the system was to facilitate business between Malaysia and Singapore.
There will be a one-month trial period to assess the system, he told The Star.
Syed Hamid said the MACS sticker would cost RM30 (S$12.60) and could be applied for at the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore and the Iskandar Regional Development Authority office.
A Home Ministry source said the sticker tag would be pasted onto a businessman's passport and frequent travellers would just have to proceed to a special MACS lane.
'We will also have special MACS car lanes at our CIQs,' said the source, adding that there were certain criteria and guidelines which would need to be met for a businessman to be eligible. -- THE STAR/ANN

wakakaka.... pas nie bertambah la kes jenayah kat johor nie... Dah la tanah kat Nusa Jaya di kelaskan kepada golongan VIP...
fakta yang perlu di ketahui...
1- warga singapura dengan mudah mempunyai rumah di kawasan WPI kerana harga rumah di Johor amat murah jika dibandingkan di singapura....
2- Kes jenayah akan meningkat kerana warga singapura bebas keluar masuk...
3- Tanah2 orang melayu akan tergadai seperti kes di Kg Plentong Tengah..
4- Warga singapura boleh mempunyai eset seperti tanah.
pendek kata WPI amat menguntungkan warga singapura....
