Foto Hangat: Iraqi Art on Concrete Barriers.

Many in Iraq reacted angrily to US plans to construct the concrete wall around the Sunni enclave of Adhamiya.
The concrete slabs are meant to stop sectarian violence on the mainly-Shia Muslim east bank of the Tigris.

A group of artists decided to transform similar structures in the centre of town into works of art.
They started a campaign aimed at covering an entire security wall on Saadoun Street in paintings.
US officials said the walls they have been erecting are designed to be temporary and will be removed if violence subsides.
The pictures employ some of the popular themes of Iraqi art - devoid of any divisive sectarian symbols.
